Vocal Classes

Kristy Swift

Kristy trained as a pianist and singer in Australia, and relocated to the United Kingdom after winning Australia’s largest and most prestigious award for opera singers, the Herald Sun Aria. She began teaching in 1994 at the Encore Music School in Brisbane, Australia, and has since taught singing and piano privately and in several secondary schools in Australia and the United Kingdom.


As an opera singer, Kristy has performed solo roles with numerous companies and orchestras, including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the London Symphony Orchestra, the MDR Orchestra at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, and for the Wexford, Buxton and Iford festivals, among many others. Her solo vocals are also on the soundtrack of the Hollywood remake of “The Magnificent Seven”.

When not performing and teaching, Kristy is a freelance adjudicator, and an examiner for the ABRSM.

  • Most classes are for children up to the age of 18. There are Open classes for adults and children aged 16+

Vocal solo 'classical' type, accompanied song
  • Please be sure to sing the correct songs for your class(es). Classical style accompanied pieces for classes B1-B6. Musical theatre or film for classes B7-12 etc. There are no classes for Pop songs.

OPEN CLASSES - For adults and children aged 16+
  • Please time your songs carefully and make sure you do not exceed the time limit. When there is a time limit specified your performance will be judged only to that point and may be terminated.
  • Please bring 2 copies of the music on the day. One MUST be an original copy, the other may be a photocopy that is destroyed after the performance. The accompanist and the adjudicator both need a copy of the music.
