Vocal Classes 2027

Adjudicator:  Ashleigh Fleming

 

Ashleigh Fleming is a professional Musical theatre performer and Vocal Coach. After completing a Bachelor of Music (University of NSW Australia) and a Bachelor or Arts (1st Class Honours) in Musical Theatre at Lasalle College of the Arts (Singapore), she then played Belle in the stage show The Golden Mickeys (Disneyland Hong Kong) before relocating to the UK. 

 Since moving to the UK, Ashleigh has played Sister Sophia in 'The Sound of Music' alongside Connie Fisher & Jason Donovan (Really Useful/David Ian) and understudied Christine Daae in 'The Phantom of the Opera,' (His Majesty's Theatre, London) where she was lucky enough to play the role over 70 times from 2012-2014. She was also part of the Cabaret trio ‘The Girls from Oz,’ where she performed for two seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe festival as well as gigs at Australia House, the Hippodrome Casino and other cabaret venues throughout London. 

 Since then, Ashleigh has worked as a Vocal Coach, regularly preparing students for exams. She also founded ‘In Good Company’ in 2022 which is an award-winning Musical Theatre ensemble and every year she produces, directs and performs with them at the Watford Fringe Festival raising money for local charities.

  • Most classes are for children up to the age of 18. There are Open classes for adults and children aged 16+
  • *NEW* Relaxed Class (B18) - A non-competative class suitable for children of any age to perform in a more relaxed environment. Within reason, we will try to accommodate any requests or specific needs. Feedback will be given, but there will be no competative element. All children will receive a medal for participating. If you enter this class, please do not also enter a competitive class. Please get in touch with Fiona to discuss your requirements.

OPEN CLASSES - For adults and children aged 16+

 
  • Please time your songs carefully and make sure you do not exceed the time limit. When there is a time limit specified your performance will be judged only to that point and may be terminated.
  • Please bring 2 copies of the music on the day. One MUST be an original copy, the other may be a photocopy that is destroyed after the performance. The accompanist and the adjudicator both need a copy of the music. 
  • You are welcome to sing from a copy if your piece is from an Oratorio
